Simon Lab

Undergraduate Students

Steven Mathew

Steven is a Biological Science major with emphasis in Molecular and Cellular Biology. He has a wide range of skills in the lab including: particle sizing, cell culturing, making SDS-page gels, flow cytometery, and fluorescence microscopy. While Steven helps out most of the undergraduates, he mainly works under Min-Ho with  Staphylococcus Aureus research. In particular, he cultures Staphylococcus Aureus and runs flow cytometery, and fluorescence microscope experiments for Min-Ho. Also Steven trains the other undergraduates in jobs around the lab.

Mohammed Beg

Mohammed is currently a third year who recently switched majors to Biomedical Engineering. He carries out general responsibilities around the lab, and has recently started assisting Greg Foster in experiments regarding CD11c expression in monocytes.

Delsheen Dhamubed

Delsheen is currently a second year Biomedical Engineering student who also plans to minor in Computer Science. She primarily is in charge of conducting most of the wound healing and neutrophil recruitment experiments and performing necessary procedures on mice. When she has spare time, she enjoys shadowing/ assisting Greg on his experiments.

Frances Navea

Frances Navea is currently a third year Biomedical Engineering major. She assists when needed in the lab, usually in culturing human aortic endothelial cells. Frances has also assisted in the CAD/MI studies, working with Chris Radecke.

Romtean Fakharzadeh

Romtean is a Biomedical Engineering student on the premedical track at UC Davis. He recently started helping Neha Dixit with her current research by helping set up flow channels in order to study LFA-1/ICAm1 interactions and how these bonds help translate immune recognition. He also helps with general lab duties when needed.

Cathy Broderick

Cathy is a third year at UC Davis working towards a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. In the lab Cathy helps out with undergraduate lab member duties and assists Greg Foster with experiments in Microfluidics, Flow Cytometry, and Fluorescence Microscopy.

Stuart Altman

Stuart is an undergraduate in the department of Biomedical Engineering and is expecting to graduate in June 2013 with his B.S. degree. His studies emphasize biomaterials and tissue engineering. He is an undergraduate research assistant and works with Greg Foster. Stuart assists Greg with microfluidic cell adhesion assays investigating monocyte arrest, human monocyte florescent phenotyping, and flow cytometry used for investigating some of the effects of high fructose corn syrup consumption.
