Junior Specialist Position in Neurophotonics
The Neurophotonics Laboratory in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of California Davis, is seeking an individual to fill a full-time animal surgeon/technician position. Our laboratory develops functional neuroimaging techniques for applications in the basic science and clinical domains. This position will support a project studying neuro-vascular coupling in normal and pathological conditions.
Duties will include performing surgeries (craniotomy, tracheostomy, femoral artery and vein cannulations) in small rodents, maintaining the animal physiology during experiments, and operating the biomedical equipment related to animal physiology. The individual will work closely with experts in the fields of optical imaging, neuropathology (stroke, traumatic brain injury), and functional neuroimaging. The individual may also have the opportunity to assist with computational and imaging processing needs of the laboratory.
Requirements: The candidate should have a minimum of a BS or BA and should be skillful or willing to learn micro-surgery on rodents, including performing craniotomy, cannulation, and tracheotomy. Candidates at the junior specialist level with a working knowledge of physiology will be preferred.
